The Tombolo
Discovery
The strip of sand known as the tombolo has always shaped the Quiberon bay landscape and the development of human activity in the area.
Shaped by nature, this strip of sand is the only link to the mainland
The tombolo, the isthmus that connects Quiberon to the continent, was not always there. Time and massive deforestation gradually pushed sand towards the bay, transforming the island of Quiberon into a peninsula during the 11th century. And the tombolo will likely disappear one day,
